PHH Golden Corner Chapter Builds New Deck Purple Heart Recipient Rudy Rudiger

Last Updated 1/28/2025Posted in Golden Corner, South Carolina Chapter Projects, Chapter Projects

These photos are from the home of Army Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran Rudy Rudiger in Anderson, SC. Mr. Rudiger served 3 tours overseas and is a Purple Heart recipient. He still carries shrapnel from his injuries. He is also a previous volunteer with PHHGolden Corner Chapter. He is currently going back to college for a Masters Degree in History at Clemson University. Mr. Rudiger's 12' x 15' deck and steps on the back of his home were begging to dry rot. This made it unsafe for himself and his family. Purple Heart Homes Golden Corner Chapter built Mr. Rudiger a new deck that is 14' x 20' and included the pergola as well. David Phelan, PHHGCC treasurer, was the project manager and brought the guys lunch while they were working. Many thanks go out to Steve Sanders, Drew Smith, Kurt Kreuzburger, Seth Sanders, Rick McDuff and Darryl Broome who volunteered for this project.
